2016 – the shape of things to come

dead celebs

We have lost so may great talents so far this year. People who were outstanding in their contribution to their art, whether it was broadcasting, writing, musical performance, acting or editing. Many of us have grown up being heavily influenced by the work of such titans and feel lost without their guiding light. Lemmy Rocked us, Bowie inspired us, Ronnie and Victoria made us laugh, Prince spoke to the funk in us, Alan gave us so many wonderful characters. Remember them with a smile, draw upon the inspiration they sowed but don’t despair. Mourn but not at the expense of tomorrow.

Because here’s the thing: NOW ITS YOUR TURN. All those icons that have passed and have given so much, drew inspiration from other giants in their lives who also passed. If we allow ourselves to wallow in grief, to bury our faces and only concentrate on the negative then we deny younger generations the chance to look up at us and be inspired – all they will see is an adult whose loss has dismantled them. BE GREAT. INSPIRE.

Do great things, be an amazing human: whether that is performance, writing, speaking, showing compassion, organising, being a parent – whatever it is do it well.

Adhoc are lucky enough to work alongside so many great talents, people who have worked with us from the beginning and actors whom we’ve just met. Not only actors but musicians , puppeteers, choreographers, dancers, make-up artists, directors…too many to name here. THESE ARE THE NEW ICONS – People whose talent, dedication and hard work make them a shining example. Seek them out, share their work, enjoy the fruits of their labour because this is the future!
